MSU-CIBER - A Resource for International Business

MSU-CIBER Grants and Scholarships

Grants

Michigan State University faculty and doctoral students are invited to apply for MSU-CIBER grants to support professional development, research, and curricular activities that are of importance to global competitiveness of U.S. firms. All grant requests that involve international travel must be submitted no later than 45 days prior to departure, due to new federal grant requirements. Grantees are required to provide a written report on the financial and academic aspects of their activity upon return, which may be published on globalEDGE. For 2007-2008, MSU-CIBER actively seeks grant applications that focus on national security and risk.

These grants are available to faculty for the development curricular activities that are of importance to global competitiveness of U.S. firms and contain a significant international component.

Professional Development

These grants support the professional development activities of faculty members and graduate students engaged in international business work. As a policy, MSU-CIBER supports scholarly activities that have a significant international dimension. This includes presentations at both domestic and international conferences, where the paper/research incorporates a clear international component.

Study Abroad Scholarships

Study abroad scholarships are available to undergraduate business students participating in summer, semester-long, or academic-year study abroad programs. MSU-CIBER awards scholarships twice a year, in the fall for winter semester awards and in the spring for summer, fall semester, and academic year awards. Preference is given to those students studying abroad in locations other than Western Europe.

IB Specialization Scholarships

Twenty scholarships are available each fall to outstanding undergraduate business students with a declared IB specialization. Awards are based on completion of the IB specialization requirements, student GPA, and a short essay.

Success Stories
"The Institute offered me the time away, to both receive and digest the information. During those short five days, I was able to draft a plan for growth in the IB program at CPCC, recruit potential on line instructors, and generate a long list of to do's; all which I'm sure will benefit our students."
