Upcoming International Business Forums 11 April, 2000: Andrzcj Laganowski, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of the Republic of Poland. About the Presentation Poland is already host to a number of major U.S. corporations, including Phillip Morris, Pepsico, Citibank, McDonalds and Ford Automotive. The country is recording good economic performance, with unemployment and inflation falling. External trade is expanding, particularly foreign direct investment with American contribution. But both Polands share of the U.S. market and the U.S. share of the Polish market are rather low when looking at their economic potential and at European competitors performance. Mr. Andrzcj Laganowski, the Forums April speaker, serves as the Head of the Commercial Counselors office in New York at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland. Mr. Laganowiski states that his "mission is to ensure that our trade and economic ties with the USA are expanding rapidly and that the enormous opportunities on both sides are utilized by the business communities." With this mission in mind, Mr. Laganowski is traveling to the Lansing area to discuss, at the International Business Forum, ways to expand trade between the United States and Poland. Prior to assuming his current role in 1996, Mr. Laganowski has held other positions in foreign trade and banking, including Vice Minister at the Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations. You are invited to take advantage of a unique opportunity to meet this expert in U.S.-Poland trade, hear his presentation on "Expanding Poland-- U.S. Business Cooperation," and learn about opportunities to expand your business into this untapped market. This concludes the 1999-2000 series. Thank you for your patronage. We look forward to seeing you in September. If you have any suggestions for speakers or topics for the 2000-2001 series, please contact Beverly Wilkins, (517) 353-4336.
