New Faculty Coordinator Michigan State University has a celebrated and strong Study Abroad program. An influential position in the planning and implementation of each individual program is that of the faculty coordinator. This individual coordinates the trip for the students taking part in the opportunity.Prof. Ted Stank, Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, is participating in the MSU Study Abroad program as a faculty coordinator for the first time. Dr. Stank has a distinguished career that includes teaching positions at Michigan State University, Iowa State University, and the University of Texas. He holds a Ph.D. in Marketing and Distribution from Webster University, and a B.S. in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. Prof. Stanks background includes distribution and marketing experience as an employee of Abbott Laboratories Diagnostic Division and as a consultant and lecturer to manufacturing and logistics firms. He serves as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy prior to his industry and academic experience. He is an active member of the Council of Logistics Management and the American Society of Transportation and Logistics. The program that Prof. Stank will be coordinating is titled, "International Business Management in Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Ireland." It takes place during the summer semester, and is among the first study abroad experiences offered through MSU. The program offers a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about international business operations through field study visits to multinational corporations. It provides exposure to a variety of countries, cultures, and industries, with tangible benefits such as meetings with knowledgeable international business leaders. The focus is on comparative study of management and an appreciation for the similarities and differences in management problems and methods across industries and countries.
