International Business Center Director Named

As of July 1999, Gary Ragatz, associate professor of operations management, became the director of the International Business Center at the Eli Broad School of Business at MSU.  Dr. Ragatz joined the Broad faculty in 1984 and teaches in the areas of operations and supply chain management.  He is also a faculty research associate in the Global Procurement and Supply Chain Benchmarking Initiative and co-director of the annual Purchasing and Materials Management Executive Seminar and Michigan State.  Dr. Ragatz received his Ph.D. from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Ragatz is co-author of the book, Supplier Bar Coding: Closing the EDI Loop, published by the National Association of Purchasing Management.  His work on production scheduling, capacity planning and supply chain management has appeared in many journals.

As director, Dr. Ragatz will be responsible for a variety of International Business Center activities including Study Abroad programs, international exchange relationships, the International Business Forum, and a variety of events and conferences.  He will also be a liaison with MSU's International Studies and Programs office, the Michigan business community, and the State of Michigan.
