The CIBER at MSU enters a new academic year with renewed energy, work agenda, and staff. Having served as a national center of excellence in international business for almost a decade, we have built much experience and expertise in serving business and academic constituents. Its innovative leadership in international business education, research and outreach, MSU-CIBER already serves as a model for other business schools. As an example of recent activities, we conducted the third bi-annual International Business Institute for Community College Faculty for a national audience. The range of study abroad programs has also been expanded substantially. The Journal of International Marketing has more than tripled its subscription base over the past year. And the International Business Resources Page of MSU-CIBERs website continues to receive rave reviews.
Nevertheless, we are not content with what has already been accomplished. New and exciting initiatives are underway at MSU-CIBER. These include a new masters degree program based in part on on-line courses. The new degree program will feature a business curriculum with an international focus and several international study tours. Also, MSU-CIBER is planning its third MSU Roundtable on Internationalizing Business Education. The theme for this invitational conference will be Study Abroad Programs, and we will partner with International Studies and Programs at Michigan State University to implement this program.
You will learn about these and other projects in this and future issues of the CIBER News. We are also delighted to report the renewal of our CIBER grant by the U.S. Department of Education. Our proposal was very favorably reviewed in the most recent round of national competition. Finally, we welcome Professor Gary Ragatz to our team as the Director of the International Business Center. As usual, we look forward to working with you.
